Solid Waste Events

Ewaste EventThe Red Wing Solid Waste Campus is a Resource & Recovery Facility that manages the recycling of commodities, construction and demolition, industrial, residential and commercial waste generaged in the City of Red Wing and surrounding communities in Goodhue County and Wabasha County.

 

 

 

The Solid Waste Campus at 1873 Bench Street is Open to the Public for Disposal:

Monday thru Friday:  9:00 am - 5:00 pm
Saturday:  7:00 am - 1:00 pm

This facility is open to all; you do not need to be a city resident to dispose of waste.  Those using the facility will be required to sort their loads into the proper containers at the facility.

 

2017/2018 Free Christmas Lights & Cords Disposal - November 24th, 2017 thru January 13th, 2018

The Solid Waste Campus is pleased to announce that we will be accepting Christmas lights and old extension cords at no charge during the holiday season. Starting November 24th, during the Holiday Stroll downtown, the drop off location will be in front of City Hall. Once the stroll is complete, the drop off site will be moved out to the Solid Waste Campus. The drop off will continue through January 13th, 2018. The end date coinsides with the Holiday Greens Disposal.

2017-2018 Holiday Greens Disposal - December 26th, 2017 thru January 13th, 2018

Red Wing's Waste Campus is offering free disposal of holiday trees and greens from December 26, 2017 through January 13, 2018. The drop off site is located at 1873 Bench Street and will be open Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Saturdays from 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. All wire and metal must be removed from these items or they will not be accepted free of charge. Following January 13th, standard disposal charges will apply. The City of Red Wing DOES NOT provide curbside removal of Christmas trees.

As a service to the Red Wing Community, the Red Wing Lions Club will again be providing curbside pickup of Christmas trees this year for a donation of $5.00 or more. To make arrangements to be included in their January 6th or 13th pickup routes, you must send a check and a note specifying the preferred date for pickup to the Lions Club c/o Brad Wronski at 312 East Sixth Street, Red Wing, MN 55066. 2018 Spring Yard Waste Cleanup - June 21st thru June 2nd

Residents can dispose of grass, leaves and compostable or organic yard waste year-round FREE OF CHARGE.

Residents may also dispose of brush at the brush and compost site at the Solid Waste Campus, located at 1873 Bench Street for a charge. However, these charges are waived for residents from April 21st thru June 2nd, 2018.  During this time, Red Wing residents may dispose of brush and shrub trimmings free of charge.

The hours for the Bench Street compost and yard waste site are:

Monday thru Friday:  9:00 am - 5:00 pm
Saturday:  7:00 am - 1:00 pm
Sunday:  CLOSED

Special bags are not necessary to dispose of materials at this site, as all materials must be emptied from the containers in which they are brought. After June 2nd, 2018, regular rates for disposal of brush will apply.

**Residents may opt to rent a roll-off dumpster for their spring yard waste at a reduced rate** from April 21st to June 2nd, 2018.  Roll-off dumpsters rented at the reduced rate may only be used for brush, trees, flowers, grass, leaves and other compostable yard waste.  Contact the Solid Waste Campus for pricing and availability.

2018 Fall Yard Waste Cleanup - September 22nd thru November 3rd, 2018

2017 Annual Electronics Recycling Event - October 21st 8:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Providing valuable community service, the City of Red Wing is collecting computers, televisions and screens, cell phones, printers and more, many items for a reduced fee or free.

This year's event is scheduled for Saturday, October 21st from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Red Wing Waste Campus at 1873 Bench Street in Red Wing.

This Annual Ewaste Event is available for all residents and businesses in southeastern Minnesota and western Wisconsin. This is a chance to get rid of unused electronics, most of them for free.  And, there are reduced rates for televisions and computer CRT monitors. The primary goals are to recover and recycle electronics and electrical products to keep them out of the waste stream. Click on the event below for more information on this year's event.

City of Red Wing volunteers and staff will assist electronics waste doners in collecting the materials from their vehicle.
