Lisa Acker, Cover Clerk, Public Works Department
Due to the current budget crisis, the Public Works Department will not be picking up curbside yard waste from residential areas or providing complimentary yard waste roll-off dumpsters. This decision was made by the City Council to reduce General Fund expenses. The fall cleanup program offered in the past included collection for leaves, brush and other yard and garden waste placed curbside during designated fall cleanup weeks.
Residents may dispose of brush year ‘round at the brush and compost site at the Integrated Solid Waste Management Campus for a charge. However, from October 6 through November 22, Red Wing residents may dispose of brush and shrub trimmings there free of charge. Grass and compostable or organic yard waste can be disposed of year ‘round free of charge.
The hours for the Bench Street compost and yard waste site are:
The extended Saturday and Sunday hours are for yard waste and brush drop off only. No garbage will be accepted. Special bags are not necessary to dispose of materials at this site as all materials must be emptied from the containers in which they are brought. After November 22, regular days, hours and rates for disposal of brush will apply.
