New Year’s Holiday Schedule Announced

The City of Red Wing is providing the following schedule of building closures and services for the New Year’s Holiday Weeks.   NEW YEAR'S WEEK City Hall will be OPEN all day on Friday, December 29th, and CLOSED on Monday, January 1st. The Public Library will be OPEN Regular Hours 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. both on Friday, December 29th and Saturday, December 30th, and CLOSED all day on Monday, January 1st. Free Christmas Lights & Cords Disposal

The Solid Waste Campus is pleased to announce that we will be accepting Christmas lights and old extension cords at no charge during the holiday season.  Starting November 24th, during the Holiday Stroll downtown, the drop off location will be in front of City Hall.  Once the stroll is complete, the drop off site will move out to the Solid Waste Campus. The drop off will continue through January 13th, 2018. The end date coincides with the Holiday Greens Disposal.

Solid Waste Campus Fire Update

On June 7th of this year a fire destroyed the incinerator building at the Solid Waste Campus. Despite the loss of the building, the City has been able to provide continuous garbage, recycling, and processing of waste services since the fire. Our insurance provider has investigated the claim and has made its determination as to what the payout options are for the City. At the City Council meeting on Monday, October 23rd, Jeff Schneider, Deputy Director of the Solid Waste Campus, presented several options to the City Council and requested their vote as to which option they would like to pursue.
