The City of Red Wing invites online engagement and asks citizens to take part in planning for the community's future

The City of Red Wing is pleased to announce the launch of

This is a new comprehensive community engagement Web site, developed by MindMixer, where citizens can engage, communicate and collaborate with community decision makers and other residents on the future of our community.

The goal is to get the community involved in the planning process. Along the way, Imagine Red Wing will be used as an online tool to generate new ideas and feedback from citizens using this interactive and accessible new platform.

Feedback from the engagement Web site will be used by the Red Wing City Council in order to lay out plans on a variety of projects.

According to Lisa Bayley, Red Wing City Council President: “Your City Council really wants to hear from as many people as possible. Think of this site as a digital town square where you will be able to share ideas and provide feedback on some of the biggest challenges facing our community.”

Imagine Red Wing gives contributors a chance to share new ideas, second others’ ideas, expand upon existing ideas and give feedback on initiatives, working with community leaders on a variety of topics online anytime, anywhere.

The discussion will start with topics like these, and branch off from there based on input:

  • What is next for Mississippi National Golf Links?
  • How can we improve Downtown Red Wing?
  • How active are Red Wingites?
  • What are your thoughts about the Old West Main/Pottery District?

The site also measures and tracks participation, identifying the most interested citizens and most compelling topics. MindMixer’s tools make it easy for administrations to communicate back with citizens, and they deliver measurable results and invaluable insights for the planning process.

Nick Bowden, CEO of MindMixer, says, “Our tools go beyond just technology. Our mission is to build community contributors. Ideas, voices and perspectives are shared to facilitate deeper and better conversations that yield actionable insights and a stronger community.”

As part of its service, MindMixer consults and collaborates with clients to identify issues that are critical to stakeholders in order to update topics and content for their websites.

A public Open House is scheduled for June 12, 2013 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Foot Room of the Red Wing Public Library to learn about the current Study Project involving Mississippi National Golf Links. A presentation will take place at 5:30 p.m. This will also be an opportunity where City staff will be available to introduce citizens to Imagine Red Wing.
