Red Wing Firefighter/Paramedics Respond To Bluff Rescue 


(Sept. 5 th  2011, Red Wing, Minn.) - At 1147 A.M. Red Wing firefighter/paramedics responded to

Barn Bluff to assist two individuals requiring medical care. Medic 4 transported one 1 patient to

Fairview Red Wing Medical Center at 2:42 P.M. At the time of transport, the patient was in

stable condition. The second patient was located by rescue personnel and pronounced dead at

the scene.  Nine firefighters and two police officers responded to the scene.  Firefighters used

technical rope rescue techniques and Advanced Life Support to extricate the injured person

from the bluff.    


The mission of the Red Wing Fire Department is to enhance the safety and security of the

community by providing cost effective protection of life and property, through fire prevention,

public education, fire suppression and emergency medical care.
