RWPD Responds to Crash

Red Wing, MN:  On January 27, 2018 at approximately 1:11 AM an Officer of the Red Wing Police Department was contacted by a citizen that a vehicle they were following had left the roadway at a high rate. The citizen then showed the officer tracks in the ditch near Charles Avenue and South Service Drive. The officer contacted dispatch of the driving complaint and started driving along South Service Drive looking for the vehicle. In the 3300 Block of South Service Drive, a Ford Escort was located that crashed into the back of a large F250 Ford truck, pinning the Escort under the truck. Officers observed an unresponsive male in the front seat of the Escort and requested an ambulance to respond to the scene. Officers then broke out the passenger window of the Escort and removed the unresponsive male from the vehicle and initiated CPR. The unresponsive male removed from the Ford Escort was later identified as Frank Anderson and declared deceased at the scene by medical responders. The Minnesota State Patrol is investigating the crash.
