Are We Ready For A Disaster?

Train Derailment Exercise

The City of Red Wing, Goodhue County, and State of Minnesota along with private partners will participate in an exercise taking place on September 19th, 2017. The exercise is being conducted in order to test and improve the community’s overall preparedness for an emergency event. The fictional exercise simulates a train derailment in downtown Red Wing. Exercise participants will practice initial incident response, incident command, and oil spill recovery. 2017 Red Wing Police Department Citizen's Academy

The Red Wing Police Department will be putting on a Citizen's Academy this fall starting October 5th. The Citizen’s Academy is a community awareness program that offers residents a unique insight into the life and training of Red Wing Police Officers. The Academy encompasses a total of 18 hours of presentations from various law enforcement personnel. Applications are now being taken for the 2017 Academy.  Applications can be picked up at the Goodhue County Law Enforcement Center Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm or can be found on our Citizens Academy website.

Guns and Hoses Event

GUNS AND HOSES - The Police Department and Fire Department will be battling it out on Thursday, August 10th in a fun filled softball game. Red Wing Police Investigate School Bus Incident

On May 16, 2017 at approximately 7:12 AM a School Bus carrying elementary and middle school students reported that students on the bus were coughing and complaining of throat irritation. First Student bus immediately pulled the bus to side of the road and evacuated the students from the bus. Another bus arrived to complete the transportation of students to school, while the original bus was taken back to the bus garage for a thorough evaluation. National Police Week Memorial Service

Annual Bicycle Rodeo

The Red Wing Police Department will again be hosting our annual Bicycle Rodeo on Saturday, May 13th, 2017 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. The Rodeo will be held at the Goodhue County Law Enforcement Center parking lot at 430 West 6th Street in Red Wing. A bicycle safety course will be set up for the kids to ride their bicycles through and learn safety rules. Kids should bring their own bicycles. Free hot dogs and pop will be provided for all kids who participate. Many prizes and several bicycles will also be given away. The Rodeo is a fun and educational experience for the kids in the community!

Tornado Drills to Take Place on Thursday, April 20

From the Office of Emergency Management: On Thursday April 20th the National Weather Service will be conducting their annual Tornado Awareness drills. All local NWS Offices will be participating with the drills. At 1:00 PM the NWS will sent out a test Tornado Watch Notification to all tone alert weather radios and Emergency Action Messages via TV and Radio.
