On March 21, 2018 at approximately 12:03 AM a juvenile female entered the Goodhue County Law Enforcement Center to report a threatening social media message. Officers immediately opened an investigation into the threat and continue to follow-up on information obtained through investigation. Red Wing, MN: On March 1, 2018, at approximately 10:00 AM, the Red Wing Police Department received notification of a possible threat of violence at the River Bluffs Education Center. River Bluffs staff notified their School Resource Officer that students reported hearing another student threaten to “shoot up” the school on Friday (March 2, 2018). Red Wing, MN: On January 27, 2018 at approximately 1:11 AM an Officer of the Red Wing Police Department was contacted by a citizen that a vehicle they were following had left the roadway at a high rate. The citizen then showed the officer tracks in the ditch near Charles Avenue and South Service Drive. The officer contacted dispatch of the driving complaint and started driving along South Service Drive looking for the vehicle. In the 3300 Block of South Service Drive, a Ford Escort was located that crashed into the back of a large F250 Ford truck, pinning the Escort under the truck. The Red Wing Police Department, selected Mathew Murillo, Michael Diaz, and Mae Schueller as the recipients of the 2017 "Grow the Grinch's Heart" challenge. Children were encouraged to visit the Red Wing Police Department's Grinchmas photo booth hosted by the St. James Hotel this past November. Residents were invited to take a photo with the Grinch and were encouraged by the Chief to enter the challenge of growing the Grinch's heart three sizes by giving back to their community. Treat bags were given to each child that visited the booth.

On December 15, 2017, at approximately 9:00 PM, Officers of the Red Wing Police Department responded to a reported disturbance in the 700 Block of Jefferson Street. Upon arrival, officers observed a male and female fighting on a front porch. Upon seeing police, the male suspect fled into the house. The female stated that there was a gun in the residence. Officers established a perimeter around the house and called for the assistance of the Goodhue County Emergency Response Team and Crisis Negotiations Team. It’s a beautiful morning in September in Red Wing. Down by Levee Park, people are out enjoying the weather. Children are playing, morning walkers are taking a turn on the Riverfront Trail, and traffic flows through downtown. A southbound freight train approaches the ADM facility, making its way through the heart of our city before proceeding further south. The City of Red Wing, Goodhue County, and State of Minnesota along with private partners will participate in an exercise taking place on September 19th, 2017. The exercise is being conducted in order to test and improve the community’s overall preparedness for an emergency event. The fictional exercise simulates a train derailment in downtown Red Wing. Exercise participants will practice initial incident response, incident command, and oil spill recovery. The Red Wing Police Department will be putting on a Citizen's Academy this fall starting October 5th. The Citizen’s Academy is a community awareness program that offers residents a unique insight into the life and training of Red Wing Police Officers. The Academy encompasses a total of 18 hours of presentations from various law enforcement personnel. Applications are now being taken for the 2017 Academy. Applications can be picked up at the Goodhue County Law Enforcement Center Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm or can be found on our Citizens Academy website.
GUNS AND HOSES - The Police Department and Fire Department will be battling it out on Thursday, August 10th in a fun filled softball game. The event will be held at the Red Wing Athletic Field with the first pitch at 7:00 p.m. with gates opening at 6:00 p.m. Pre-game events will include: Shark Baggo, Pizza Dash, Hula-Hooping, Boot Kicking, Pancake Flipping, Ice Cream Treats, Campfire Seating Section, Born Learning Trail, Plus Favorites from Last Year - TZD Carts; Wild Hair Designs and Fire and Police Vehicle Tours, and More.
