Bicycle Rodeo

The Red Wing Police Department will again be hosting our annual Bicycle Rodeo on Saturday, May 12th, 2018 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. The Rodeo will be held at the Goodhue County Law Enforcement Center parking lot at 430 West 6th Street in Red Wing. A bicycle safety course will be set up for the kids to ride their bicycles through and learn safety rules. Kids should bring their own bicycles. Free hot dogs and pop will be provided for all kids who participate. Many prizes and several bicycles will also be given away. The Rodeo is a fun and educational experience for the kids in the community!

RWPD Responds to Crash

Red Wing, MN:  On January 27, 2018 at approximately 1:11 AM an Officer of the Red Wing Police Department was contacted by a citizen that a vehicle they were following had left the roadway at a high rate. The citizen then showed the officer tracks in the ditch near Charles Avenue and South Service Drive. The officer contacted dispatch of the driving complaint and started driving along South Service Drive looking for the vehicle. In the 3300 Block of South Service Drive, a Ford Escort was located that crashed into the back of a large F250 Ford truck, pinning the Escort under the truck. Officers observed an…

The Red Wing Police Department, selected Mathew Murillo, Michael Diaz, and Mae Schueller as the recipients of the 2017 "Grow the Grinch's Heart" challenge. Children were encouraged to visit the Red Wing Police Department's Grinchmas photo booth hosted by the St. James Hotel this past November. Residents were invited to take a photo with the Grinch and were encouraged by the Chief to enter the challenge of growing the Grinch's heart three sizes by giving back to their community.  Treat bags were given to each child that visited the booth. Red Wing Police Respond to Disturbance

On December 15, 2017, at approximately 9:00 PM, Officers of the Red Wing Police Department responded to a reported disturbance in the 700 Block of Jefferson Street. Upon arrival, officers observed a male and female fighting on a front porch. Upon seeing police, the male suspect fled into the house. The female stated that there was a gun in the residence. Officers established a perimeter around the house and called for the assistance of the Goodhue County Emergency Response Team and Crisis Negotiations Team. Are We Ready For A Disaster?

Imagine this: It’s a beautiful morning in September in Red Wing.  Down by Levee Park, people are out enjoying the weather.  Children are playing, morning walkers are taking a turn on the Riverfront Trail, and traffic flows through downtown.  A southbound freight train approaches the ADM facility, making its way through the heart of our city before proceeding further south.  Suddenly, without warning, the train derails in a cacophony of sparks and grinding metal.  In an instant, the locomotive is on its side, and fuel from the engine is spewing from its saddle tanks.  The c…
