West Avenue Closure (West 5th Street to West 7th Street)

(August 10, 2017, Red Wing, Minn.) – The City of Red Wing Engineering Department would like to inform you that West Avenue will be closed beginning at approximately 7:00 am on Monday, August 14th between West 5th Street and West 7th Street. The closure is needed to replace utilities on West Avenue near the West 6th Street intersection and rebuild the West Avenue/West 6th Street intersection related to the City’s 2017 Street Reconstruction Project. GUNS AND HOSES - The Police Department and Fire Department will be battling it out on Thursday, August 10th in a fun filled softball game. The event will be held at the Red Wing Athletic Field with the first pitch at 7:00 p.m. with gates opening at 6:00 p.m. Pre-game events will include:  Shark Baggo, Pizza Dash, Hula-Hooping, Boot Kicking, Pancake Flipping, Ice Cream Treats, Campfire Seating Section, Born Learning Trail, Plus Favorites from Last Year - TZD Carts; Wild Hair Designs and Fire and Police Vehicle Tours, and More. As a community, we have been delighted to welcome the Duluth Trading Company (DTC) to Red Wing. Over one thousand of us flocked to their July 15, 2017 grand opening, happily learning about the virtues of extra gussets in jeans and duck-tailed shirts. DTC’s emphasis on “working man” clothes complements their neighbor's, Red Wing Shoes, merchandise line of “working man” footwear perfectly.
