What has Downtown Main Street been doing for our community this year?

Executive Director, Megan Tsui, presented a summary of Downtown Main Street (DTMS) activities thus far in 2017 to the City Council on Monday, November 27, and the project list ranged from community branding to sustainability programs for downtown businesses.

The City of Red Wing contracts with DTMS to provide services, and Tusi reported that the City contract represents roughly a third of the total income for DTMS. The services commissioned in the current contract include projects based around the following areas:

  • Banner and flag program
  • Jordan Court enhancements
  • Dashboard of Progress
  • The creation of a winter event
  • Downtown sign, awning, and façade program
  • Sustainability opportunities
  • Pace program
  • Gateway enhancements from the new Red Wing bridge
  • Community branding

Tsui also presented on other projects DTMS manages, including the ever popular Holiday Stroll.  They thrive on the help of volunteers, so if you’re looking for a way to become more involved in your community, consider giving them a call.  DTMS has been a valuable partner in driving tourism and local spending to our area merchants.

Watch a clip of Tsui's presentation to City Council for more detailed information on the services the City contracts DTMS for and the current status of those projects.
