The Red Wing City Council and the Commissioners of the Red Wing Housing and Redevelopment Authority (HRA) held a joint meeting at the Foot Room of the Public Library on February 3, 2014. The purpose of the joint meeting was to go over the 2014 HRA Strategic Plan and receive feedback from the City Council. The HRA has been working on its new strategic plan for several months and is close to finalizing the document. The HRA considers the City Council an essential partner and desires to work closely with City and in concert to its goals, objectives and strategies. The Strategic Plan was presented by the David Unmacht, HRA facilitator (Springsted, Inc.), and HRA Board of Commissioners. The members of the City Council were able to give feedback on each proposed strategy. Overall, the meeting was considered a huge success with many points presented by both parties.
The HRA has four main Strategies:
1) Maintain existing and expand new housing opportunities
2) Explore financial resources to expand community development opportunities
3) Organize and operate with effective and efficient business practices
4) Focus on public engagement, education and community awareness
