On October 9, 2011, the Red Wing Heritage Preservation Commission (HPC) will lead a neighborhood walk in the East Avenue neighborhood to inform property owners/residents of the HPC's proposal to create a new historic district in the area and to discuss the significance of the proposed historic district. The walk will follow the proposed boundaries of the historic district and will start at 3:00 pm on W. 7th Street, in front of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. You may join the walk at any time along the route, which will proceed west along W. 7th Street, south along East Avenue, and then back along the opposite sides of the streets to the starting point.
In addition to HPC members, Daniel Hoisington, Hoisington Preservation Consultants, will participate in the walk and will be available to answer questions about specific properties and the South End Historic Properties Survey Report (2009), including its recommendations. A copy of the survey report is available on the City of Red Wing's web-site (http://www.red-wing.org/heritagepreservationcommission.html) or by contacting Steve Kohn, Assistant Planning Director for the City of Red Wing, at (651)385-3622. Please see the proposed historic district boundaries below.
