On Friday, January 20, 2012, Rose Hanson from the Public Works Department was presented the Distinguished
Member Award by the Minnesota Chapter of the National Institute for Governmental Purchasing. Rose has been
a member of NIGP for over 10 years. In 2005 she joined the Board of Directors for the Minnesota Chapter of NIGP as Treasurerand in that same year she passed the Certified Professional Public Buyer examination. The CPPB certification is internationally recognized for excellence in the public procurement field.. In 2009 she was elected as the Chapter's Vice President and in 2010 she served as President for the chapter. Rose continues to serve as the Secretary for the Board of Directors in 2012. During her tenure on the Board, Rose has mentored several new incoming board members and has served on many committees including chairing the fall conference committee.
The Distinguished Member award is not just an annual award. This award is given only when a member of the Chapter is truly deserving, and this is the 2nd highest recognition that can be presented from the Minnesota Chapter of NIGP. Rose's
long term commitment and dedication to the Public Purchasing Profession made her a very deserving individual to receive this prestigious award.
