The Mississippi river reading as of 6:30 a.m. today is at 13.43 feet. The National Weather Service predicts the Mississippi river to be at 15.3 feet by Sunday morning, June 29th.
Roads closed as of today include: Levee Road between Jackson and Broad Streets, Ikata Drive, East 5th Street beneath the railroad track bridge, Sturgeon Lake Road at Frazier Street and the end of Collischan Road.
Staff is anticipating that another section of Levee Road will be closed, starting at Pottery Pond to Jackson Street and Jackson Street at Old West Main. Staff expects to close this on Thursday, June 26th or Friday June 27th.
Staff will continue to monitor river readings, provide updates as needed and make any necessary changes. Updates will be posted on the City of Red Wing website at www.red-wing.org and on Facebook.
Remember; do not drive through, wade or walk through standing water. Roads and bridges may be washed out. It is illegal to move or drive around barricades. Violators will be ticketed; law enforcement will be monitoring these areas closely. Motorists are encouraged to stay alert and drive carefully through these areas and use alternate routes whenever possible.
