Spring cleaning is just around the corner but remember a few things as you start your clean-up this year. Everything in the streets drains to the Mississippi River. Day 2 of Snow Emergency Cancelled

Red Wing didn't receive as much snow as was forecasted.  Subsequently, day two of the snow emergency has been cancelled.  All major snow removal activities have been completed.  Normal parking can resume on all city streets as of noon on Sunday, February 25th.

A busy shift for RWFD 21 calls including four consecutive calls a Rescue, Fire, and two EMS calls. Our staffing matrix utilizes a Career and Paid on Call firefighters ensuring that at all times we are ready for the next call.  February 23, 2018 4:17pm (7 firefighter paramedics) Red Wing Police called for assistance from the fire department with a possible water rescue. Within 8 minutes of the request, Marine 2 was launched and we had four firefighters in cold-water gear on the water. - Units Cleared @ 5:15pm 4:36pm  (2 firefighter paramedics) Dispatched for a medical transfer from a nursing ho…

February 23, 2018 @ 4:17pm  Red Wing Police called for assistance from the fire department with a possible water rescue. Within 8 minutes of the request, Marine 2 was launched and we had four firefighters in cold-water gear on the water. - Units Cleared @ 5:15pm  @ 5:01pm Red Wing firefighters responded for a reported house fire located on 6th St in Red Wing.  First unit on scene reported heavy smoke coming from the second floor. The whole family got out of the home before our arrival; they reported that the fire had started in a bedroom. Crews quickly made entry reporting heavy fire and s…

City of Red Wing Receives Award for Levee Rd & Riverfront Trail Project

On January 26th, the City of Red Wing and Kimley Horn & Associates were the recipients of an Honor Award from the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC). The ACEC had this to say about the project and why it was chosen for an honor award: The Levee Road and Riverfront Trail project overcame significant hurdles to construct a signature segment of the Riverfront Trail through an· active grain barge loading terminal. Nardinger- Growing With the City for 25 Years

Lynn Nardinger’s roots run deep.  He’s the kind of guy who grows where he’s planted, and for 25 years he’s been growing his career with the City of Red Wing.  Now the Deputy Director of Public Works, Lynn has come a long way from his start on the refuse collection route he was hired for 25 years ago.  Raised in rural Mazeppa on his family’s farm, Lynn went to vocational school in Rochester after high school graduation and became a diesel mechanic.  He put his degree to work when he was hired at Cemstone in Red Wing, and remained there for ten years before he …
