Red Wing Public Library Building Damaged

Red Wing, MN:  On January 27, 2018 at approximately 1:11 AM an Officer of the Red Wing Police Department was contacted by a citizen that a vehicle they were following had left the roadway at a high rate. The citizen then showed the officer tracks in the ditch near Charles Avenue and South Service Drive. The officer contacted dispatch of the driving complaint and started driving along South Service Drive looking for the vehicle. In the 3300 Block of South Service Drive, a Ford Escort was located that crashed into the back of a large F250 Ford truck, pinning the Escort under the truck. Officers observed an…

City's 5-Year Reconstruction Plan Updated

We’re no strangers to street reconstruction in Red Wing, and the recent investments in infrastructure have resulted in an uptick in construction of all sorts around town.  At the City Council meeting on Monday, January 8, 2018, Council was presented with the schedule for total street reconstructions within the city limits for the next five years.  Ron Rosenthal, City of Red Wing Engineering Director, presented the plan in its entirety to Council, a clip of which can be viewed here, though this was not the first time it has been brought before Council.  The 5-year reconstruction plan is a …

The Red Wing Police Department Recognized Youth for their Acts of Kindness

The Red Wing Police Department, selected Mathew Murillo, Michael Diaz, and Mae Schueller as the recipients of the 2017 "Grow the Grinch's Heart" challenge. Children were encouraged to visit the Red Wing Police Department's Grinchmas photo booth hosted by the St. James Hotel this past November. Residents were invited to take a photo with the Grinch and were encouraged by the Chief to enter the challenge of growing the Grinch's heart three sizes by giving back to their community.  Treat bags were given to each child that visited the booth.
