Solid Waste Campus Fire Update

On June 7th of this year a fire destroyed the incinerator building at the Solid Waste Campus. Despite the loss of the building, the City has been able to provide continuous garbage, recycling, and processing of waste services since the fire. Our insurance provider has investigated the claim and has made its determination as to what the payout options are for the City. At the City Council meeting on Monday, October 23rd, Jeff Schneider, Deputy Director of the Solid Waste Campus, presented several options to the City Council and requested their vote as to which option they would like to pursue. October 9th Proclaimed Chief Red Wing Day

During the City Council meeting on October 9th, 2017, Mayor Dowse proclaimed this day going forward as Chief Red Wing Day, in honor of Chief Red Wing and the First Peoples.  Shelley Buck, Prairie Island Indian Community Tribal Council President, was on hand to receive the proclamation.  Watch a clip of the proclamation and read it in full below.
