Holiday Greens Disposal Options

Red Wing’s Waste Campus is offering free disposal of holiday trees and greens from December 27, 2016 through January 14th, 2017. The drop off site is located at 1873 Bench Street and will be open Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., and Saturdays from 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. All wire and metal must be removed from these items or they will not be accepted free of charge. Following January 14th, standard disposal charges will apply. The City of Red Wing does not provide curbside removal of Christmas trees. Local Children Helped to Grow the Grinch's Heart

We all know the story of the Grinch, that terrible humbug whose heart was three sizes too small. It took the generosity of a child and a whole community to make it grow in Dr. Seuss’ beloved Christmas story.  The Red Wing Police Department had its own Grinch story this holiday season and it’s just as heartwarming.  The RWPD had an interactive photo booth at the Yuletide Festival this year where the young and old could get a photo with the Grinch and receive a ‘good deed’ citation from an officer. Christmas/New Year’s Holiday Schedule Announced

The City of Red Wing is providing the following schedule of building closures and services for the Christmas and New Year’s Holiday Weeks.   CHRISTMAS WEEK City Hall will be CLOSED on both Friday, December 23rd and Monday, December 26th. It’s a beautiful thing when the gratitude we feel for the blessings in our lives inspires us to do more for others. Such has been the case with the City of Red Wing employees this year.  Working through the Goodhue County Christmas Project, City employees teamed up with others from TNT Gymnastics to adopt six local families for Christmas, gifting them with a range of items from grocery gift cards, to toys and clothing.  Still wanting to do more, the City of Red Wing employees partnered with The Hope coalition to select an additional ten children to buy gifts for from the Kids Count progra…

If the weather stations are right, big snow is headed to Red Wing!  City crews are preparing for the anticipated snowfall of 6”-10”. Although it has not been declared at this time, it is expected that a Snow Emergency will likely be issued on Friday, December 16. Just a reminder that in a Snow Emergency, cars will not be allowed to park on Snow Emergency routes beginning on Saturday at 12:01 a.m. until noon and on Non-Emergency routes from Sunday at 12:01 a.m. until noon. 7th Annual FOP Christmas Shopping Event

There were a lot of police at Walmart on Saturday, did you see them? No, they weren’t responding to an emergency; they were shopping! The seventh annual FOP Cops and Kids Christmas Shopping Event was underway and twenty local children were having a ball. After a shared meal, each child was given gift cards, paired with an officer, and sent off down the aisles to buy gifts for their family members at home.  The Christmas shopping event is wildly popular with kids and officers alike. Sunday snow event - message from City Public Works

City crews will be plowing snow until 4pm today (Sunday, Dec 11) and back on our streets at 2am Monday.  They ask that you please keep your cars off streets today and tomorrow.  This allows them to safely clear the streets for everyone. There are many public lots available and if you have space for a neighbors' car please extend that offer.  The Public Work crews will be grateful.  No snow emergency will be called.

Notice of Availability of an Environmental Assessment Worksheet (EAW)

Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) announced today that the Environmental Assessment Worksheet (EAW) for Lab USA’s Ash Processing Project in Red Wing, Minnesota is now available for review and there will be a special public information meeting on December 7, 2016 in Red Wing. The EAW for Lab USA’s Ash Processing Project is complete and now available for review. The MPCA uses the EAW and any comments received to evaluate the potential for significant environmental effects from the project and to decide on the need for an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) which is a more detailed study of…
