As part of the TH 61/Main Street project, the City’s contractor, Meyer Contracting will be constructing a water main connection at the intersection of Bush Street and Main Street. The work is scheduled to begin at approximately 8:00 pm Thursday evening (3/31) and will continue into the early hours of Friday morning. This water main connection will require water service disruption to area businesses and residents, but overnight construction will allow us to minimize the impacts to those affected by the shutdown. The Red Wing Heritage Preservation Commission is seeking nominees from the community for their annual Preservation Awards of Merit. Each year the Heritage Preservation Commission presents the Awards of Merit to individuals, institutions, and businesses who have been involved in exceptional local historic preservation projects. Motorists traveling on the Highway 63 Eisenhower Bridge at Red Wing will encounter afternoon lane closures and flaggers on Monday, March 21 while work is done in preparation for the bridge replacement project, according to the Minnesota and Wisconsin departments of transportation.
A WisDOT crew will be doing pavement borings for the Wisconsin approach roads. The work will provide MnDOT designers with additional information for the roadway and pavement design. The segment of Potter Street between TH61/Main Street and TH63/3rd Street has been converted from 1-way to 2-way traffic effective immediately. On March 14, 2016, the City Council approved the conversion of this segment of Potter Street to 2-way traffic to help aid the movement of traffic during the 2nd phase of Main Street reconstruction. Potter Street will remain 2-way permanently after the reconstruction project.

The City of Red Wing and the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) would like to inform you that the proposed reconstruction of US Highway 61 (Main Street) Phase 2 portion between Broad Street and Potter Street is anticipated to begin construction the week of March 14, 2016. Initial operations will include temporary lane closures on TH 61 for installation of the construction traffic control to facilitate the beginning of pavement removal and utility work starting at Broad Street and working east towards Potter Street. The Conservation Corps of Minnesota (CCM) in cooperation with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR), the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the City of Red Wing, Friends of the Bluffs, and Audubon Minnesota will be conducting controlled prescribed burns of select native and planted prairies on Sorin’s Bluff/Memorial Park on Friday, March 11, 2016.
