On June 17th, The Red Wing Housing and Redevelopment Agency (HRA) was one of two HRAs in the state to be interviewed by the Minneapolis Federal Reserve. We were highlighted due to our commercial Small Cities Redevelopment Loan rehab programs. Click on the link below to view the video.
The Sand Hill water reservoir, located at the top of West Avenue hill, will be painted over the next 6-8 weeks. The work being done consists of sandblasting and painting both the inside and outside of the reservoir. Work is permitted between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday. Work is permitted on Sunday, but is limited to quiet activities. The old coating, and any existing rust or scale will be removed by sand blasting during the first 4-5 weeks and can be a noisy process. The City of Red Wing and the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) would like to inform you that the traffic switch of TH 61 (Main Street) from the northbound lanes to the southbound lanes is planned, weather depending, for Friday, July 17th. The switch is required in order to close the north side of the highway and allow for the completion of the proposed construction with the northbound lanes. This new configuration with traffic on the south side is estimated to remain through the middle of August.

(July 14, 2015, Red Wing, Minn.) –Critical electrical work needed at Red Wing City Hall. At 4:30 p.m. today all network services will be powered down at City Hall. At 5:00 p.m. city electricians will shut down electricity at City Hall to begin working on a fix for a critical electrical issue within the building.
The following services will not be available in all City facilities after 4:30 p.m.:

Xcel Energy has hired Q3 Contracting to replace residential gas mains prior to the City paving in two areas of the City’s 2015 overlay project. These gas mains will be installed using trenchless directional drilling technology, however potholing will be required at locations where the new gas main will cross other utilities.
The first area of the overlay project affected is as follows. Gas Main construction is scheduled in the following area from 7/13/2015 to 7/27/2015 using one construction crew. Monarch Paving Company will complete the reclamation and overlays in this area after gas… Read full article »

The City of Red Wing Public Works Department will be shifting lanes on the portion of Levee Road from the bulkheads west to Withers Harbor Drive beginning Tuesday, July 7th. The lanes will be shifted to the south side of the road to allow the US Army Corps of Engineers to do dredging of the Mississippi River. The dredging will include the removal of approximately 27,000 yards of material to keep the river open to barge traffic. The work is expected to be completed in 3 weeks depending on the amount of material that will need to be dredged.
