(April, 28 2015, Red Wing, Minn.) – At 12:47 this afternoon, 8 Red Wing firefighter/paramedics and 4 police officers were called to assist a victim stranded on the north side of Barn Bluff just above the wastewater treatment plant. Upon arrival, employees at the wastewater treatment plant assisted with locating the victim. The victim was stranded on the side of a steep incline below the north trail. FLUSHING MAINS and HYDRANTS
All hydrants and mains in the City of Red Wing will be flushed beginning
Monday, May 4th 2015 at 6:00 a.m.
The new Water Treatment Facilities have improved the water quality in the City of Red Wing and as a result, crews will be reducing the hydrant flushing to ONCE this year. The hydrant flushings done to maintain water quality remove accumulated rust from the water mains and to ensure that the fire hydrants work properly. Some areas such as dead end streets may be flushed multiple times during the year depending on the specific needs of the area.

The Red Wing Heritage Preservation Commission (HPC) will be hosting a neighborhood meeting on Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at 7:30 pm in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 315 W. Fourth Street, regarding a proposal to create a new historic or conservation district in the East Avenue neighborhood, based on a recommendation from the South End Historic Properties Survey (2009). The City of Red Wing and the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) want to inform that the proposed reconstruction of US Highway 61 (Main Street) Phase 1 portion between Old West Main Street and Broad Street is anticipated to begin construction the week of April 20th, 2015. Initial operations will include lane closures on TH 61 from Fulton Street to Bush Street for installation of temporary traffic signals and utility work at West Avenue. Effective immediately, the burning ban and restrictions issued for Goodhue County have been lifted. Residents that had permits suspended because of the ban can now resume burning until their permit expires. Residents can now also apply for new burning permits.
