The City of Red Wing is providing the following schedule of building closures and services for the Christmas and New Years Holiday Weeks.
City Hall, Public Library and the Solid Waste Campus will be CLOSED on both Tuesday & Wednesday, December 24th & 25th.
The Public Works Building will CLOSE at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 24th, and CLOSED on Wednesday, December 25th.

On Dec. 17, 2013 at 2:33pm, the Red Wing Fire Department received a call reporting a structure fire at 410 Grace St.
Firefighter/paramedics were on scene within three minutes of receiving the call. Fire was found in a second story bedroom. The fire was extinguished approximately ten minutes after arrival. All occupants were safely out of the house upon the Fire Department’s arrival. No injuries to emergency responders or anyone else resulted.

Skaters are reminded that the upper rink is designated for hockey, while the lower rink is designated for recreational skating. Some skates are available for use at the warming house.
On November 25 Bill Morris of Decision Resources, Ltd., presented City Council with results of the 2013 Residential Survey. He reported that the survey was conducted in 2013 using a random selection process of approximately 400 households, similar to the process utilized in 2005. Survey results were compared with results from 2005 and with those of other communities. Mr. Morris indicated that survey results were extremely favorable, with an effective communication system, a significant booster rating, and high regard for City services and staff.

On 12/11/2013 at 07:04 AM, the Red Wing Fire Department received a call reporting a garage fire at 677 21st St.
Firefighter/paramedics were on scene within 3 minutes of receiving the call and utilized exterior and interior attack to combat the fire. The fire was extinguished approximately 30 minutes after arrival. No injuries to emergency responders or anyone else resulted.

On December 8 at 8:58pm, the Red Wing Fire Department received a call reporting smoke in the house at 814 Maple Street in Red Wing. The caller was suspecting a problem with the fireplace/chimney in the home.
Firefighter/paramedics were on scene within 3 1/2 minutes of receiving the call. All of the occupants were safely out of the house upon the Fire Department’s arrival.

The City of Red Wing invites anyone with an interest in the Highway 61/Main Street Reconstruction Project to attend a public open house, scheduled for Monday, December 16th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the St. James Hotel (406 Main Street, Red Wing). The City of Red Wing and the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) have initiated a study to develop a plan for the reconstruction of Highway 61/Main Street between Old West Main Street and Potter Street in downtown Red Wing.
