Notice is hereby given that a Special Election will be held in the City of Red Wing on Tuesday, June 11, 2013 for the purpose of electing a candidate for the office listed below. The filing period for this office begins on Tuesday, April 2 and ends on Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at 5:00 p.m.
Mayor - For the balance of the term expiring January 2017
Candidates for the above office may file at the City Clerk's Office, Second Floor, City Hall, 315 West Fourth Street, Red Wing, Minnesota. Filing fee is $5.00.
The City is host to the Prairie Island Nuclear Generating Plant (“PINGP”), which is a dual nuclear reactor facility. As a result of the Federal Government’s lack of progress on a permanent repository for spent nuclear fuel (“SNF”) it is stored on site at the PINGP in an independent spent fuel storage installation (“ISFSI”).

On March 7, 2013 City staff received Mayor Dennis Egan's letter of resignation from office, effective April 1, 2013. City Council will adopt a resolution accepting the resignation at the March 11 City Council meeting.

Snow Emergency Declared
(March 4, 2013, Red Wing, Minn.) – In anticipation of receiving more than six inches of snow in the snow event currently underway, the City of Red Wing is declaring a snow emergency.
This snow emergency will take effect at 12:01 a.m. on TUESDAY, MARCH 5. The City of Red Wing has implemented a new app that allows citizens to report issues right from their cell phone. It's as simple as downloading the YourGov app on to your phone. YourGOV currently supports the Apple iPhone and Android.
The YourGov app is free and available in the App Store on in Google Market.
When you open the YourGOV app it will find your location and connect to the City of Red Wing. You can take a picture and describe the issue. Your issue will be logged and the appropriate department will be notified.
