The Goodhue County Sheriff's Department would like to make citizens and area businesses aware that changes will be made to the siren system in the City of Red Wing and surrounding area on Tuesday October 9th. After the changes have been made, the sirens will be tested and activated at 1:00 pm and will last for approximately 30 seconds. DO NOT call the Goodhue County Sheriff's Department Dispatch Center, as no actions are necessary. This is only a test to verify that the sirens activate properly after having changes made to them.

Residents can dispose of grass, leaves and compostable yard waste year-round free of charge. In addition, residents may also dispose of brush and shrub trimmings free of charge from October 6th thru November 17th. These materials may be disposed of at the Waste Management Campus, located at 1873 Bench Street. After November 17th, regular rates for disposal of brush and shrub trimmings will apply.
The hours for the Bench Street compost and yard waste site are:
Monday – Friday 9:00 a.m. 5:00 p.m.
Saturdays – 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

On Monday, October 1, 2012 the Red Wing City Council adopted Ordinance No. 39, Fourth Series establishing new zoning requirements that apply to mining, processing and transportation terminals related to Industrial Frac Sand within the City of Red Wing corporate limits.
