The first annual Chinese New Year celebration at Southeast Technical College came to a successful conclusion on February 17, 2011. It featured authentic Chinese food prepared by the students from the Chinese culture club, under the advice and leadership of Yanmei Jiang and Tao Peng. The celebration also featured demonstrations of Chinese calligraphy, brush painting, Taichi, as well as performances of traditional Chinese music instruments, such as Pipa and Erhu. On February 14th House File 476 was introduced by Representative Kelly supporting the Red Wing Port Authority’s inclusion in the Public Employees Retirement Association of Minnesota, PERA.
