The mission and goal of the Red Wing Human Rights Commission is to assure that nothing in an individual’s race, gender, nationality, choice of religion, sexual orientation or other individuality aspect excludes any person from participating equally and fully in the human experience at the highest level. The purpose of the commission is to secure for all citizens equal opportunity in employment, housing, public accommodations, public services and education and full participation in the affairs of the City by supporting the Minnesota Department of Human Rights and implementing the Minnesota Human Rights Act and by advising the Council on long-range programs to improve community relations in the City. Its seven members have been appointed by the Mayor. The Human Rights Commission traditionally meets the third Thursday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at City Hall, 315 West 4th Street.
