The Sustainability Commission is composed of nine to fifteen citizen members with the purpose of providing advice to the City Council concerning environmental issues and initiatives confronting the City.

The Sister Cities Commission promotes cultural exchange between cities of different nations to foster strengthened economics, world peace, and a greater understanding of world issues. The City of Red Wing has two official sister cities – Ikata, Japan, and Quzhou, China. The commission also has had a very informal relationship with Drammen, Norway. The Sister Cities Commission can have up to 15 members appointed by the Mayor.

Acknowledging the universal concept of human rights, the mission of the Human education at all levels to create a safe and supportive community environment. This involves actively working to assure all City policies and practices do not discriminate on any basis, including immigrant or refugee status.Rights Commission is to ensure that ALL Red Wing residents may participate equally and fully in the human experience.
