The Red Wing School District, City of Red Wing, and community partners representing Live Healthy Red Wing have been developing a Safe Routes to School (SRTS) program over the past few years. Safe Routes to School is a program with a simple goal: helping more children to get to school by walking and bicycling. In 2012, the partnership applied for and received a grant application to develop two SRTS plans; one for the Sunnyside Elementary School neighborhood and one for the Twin Bluff Middle School neighborhood. Later, in 2013 the City of Red Wing received a Non-infrastructure SRTS grant to implement program recommendations that were made in the two plans. Finally, the City is applying for an Infrastructure SRTS grant in early 2014. Below are links to documents related to each of these program elements.
