Pedestrian Bridge Update:
The Contractor anticipates completing the east and west retaining walls next week. The remaining work at the south abutment will be backfilling and railing installation. The actual bridge plaza construction is planned to be completed under the Old West Main Street project.
The Contractor is continuing to work on the concrete deck and curb along Spans 2 and 3. This work is anticipated to be ongoing for the next three to four weeks. The truss bridge is scheduled to be delivered the first week of August and anticipated to be set over the RR tracks the third week of August. The project overall is on schedule for completion by end of September 2021.
Old West Main Street Update:
The Contractor successfully started construction this week in Stage 1A. The work this week was focused on delivery of materials and pavement removals. The Contractor will be focusing on the new sanitary sewer main and anticipates 3-4 weeks to complete this work, including almost a full week just in the Jackson Street intersection due to the depth of the new manhole. After setting the new manhole, the Contractor anticipates continuing to work in the following order:
• South on Jackson Street towards the alley
• East on Old West Main Street towards TH 61/Main Street
• West on Old West Main Street towards Washington Street
All detour signing is in place and multiple revisions are in process based on feedback from area businesses.
