Other Red Wing Police Crime Prevention Programs

Annual Bicycle Rodeo: A bicycle rodeo is held annually in the Law Enforcement Center parking lot on the second Saturday of May. A simulated road course is constructed for children to practice bike riding skills. Prizes are given away and refreshments are served from 9 to 11 a.m.

School Safety Programs: Each October, members of the Red Wing Police Department visit area elementary schools and provide a Halloween Safety presentation. Treat bags and activity books reminding children to Trick or Treat safely are distributed.

Each April, Police personnel again visit area schools to teach children how to use bikes, skateboards and in-line skates safely. These programs have reduced injuries to the children of the community.

Bicycle Registration: The Red Wing Police Department will register any bicycle free of charge. A license decal will be affixed to the bicycle frame. The licenses help return bicycles to owners if they’re stolen.

Site Surveys: A certified crime prevention specialist is available to survey homes or businesses in Red Wing. Upon completion, the survey results indicate improvements that may be made to make a home or business more safe and secure.
