Application Process

In accordance with Section 105.7.1 and 105.7.6 of the Minnesota State Fire Code (MSFC), the party wanting such permit shall make application to the Permits and License Manager for a construction permit at least 30 days prior to the date on which the installation or modification shall begin. 

Applying & Submitting

Permit applications can be applied for and submitted electronically online through the use of the Permit Application.

Permit applications may also be received from and submitted to the Permits and License Manager at the Community Development building.  

Application Items

Regardless of how one submits, the application shall include the

  • Calculations
  • Permit fee
  • Spec sheets conforming to NFPA 13 or NFPA 72 (or other applicable standards)
  • Two sets of drawings

One of the two submitted copies must be a hard paper copy. Once all application materials are received, the project work may begin.  Plan review turnaround time is approximately 21 days.
