Library

The Library has two large meeting rooms which are available to the public on an equitable basis, regardless of the beliefs, affiliations, or economic standing of individuals or groups requesting their use.

Non-profit groups may reserve the meeting rooms for a small fee.  Meeting rooms are available during library open hours.  The rooms which have new carpeting and chairs are located on the lower level of the library with both stair and elevator access.

The Community Room has a head table and podium, 48 chairs in theater style, pull-down screen, and public address system.  Extra tables and chairs are in the back of the room.  Total room capacity is 75.

The Foot Room can accommodate small groups or large audiences.  It is usually set up on the right side with a head table and podium, 50 chairs in theater style, pull-down screen, public address system consisting of 2 microphones, 1 wireless microphone and speakers.  On the left side of the room are 4 tables in a square which seats 16-20.  In an alcove is the former City Council table with 14 chairs.  Additional tables and chairs are available in the room.  Total seating available is 170 and room capacity is 370.

Equipment available for use in the meeting rooms include a VCR with 19” TV, or a VCR with movie screen & closed caption decoder, overhead projector, stage, portable dry erase board, flipchart/easel, portable screen, pointers, and assistive listening devices.

Wireless Internet access is available in both rooms.

In additional to the rooms on the lower level there are two smaller study rooms located in the Library on the main floor.  These rooms can accommodate 8-10 people and are available to anyone at no cost.  They cannot be reserved in advance.

Park Shelter

Residents can make requests for special events or special use of parks by printing out and completing a Facility Request Form and mailing it back to the Public Works Department at 229 Tyler Road North in Red Wing, MN or faxing it to 651.388.0243. The Colvill Courtyard is a year-round facility which can be reserved one year in advance. The Colvill Pavilion and open shelters in all Red Wing Parks can be reserved for the current year beginning the first working day of each year. Requests for reserving pavilions can also be emailed to Lori Huppert at lori.huppert@ci.red-wing.mn.us at the Public Works Department. Public Property

For events requesting street closure such as neighborhood block parties, events that will exceed park/facility rules, special services or hours and/or involve serving alcohol, a Private Use of Public Property Form needs to be filled out. Please keep in mind that City Staff will need time to consider your application and to complete their comments. In some instances, applications need to be approved by the City Council as well as City Staff. Therefore, your application needs to be returned to the City AT LEAST 30 DAYS PRIOR TO YOUR EVENT.

The Private Use of Public Property Form can be printed out and mailed back to the Public Works Department at 229 Tyler Road North in Red Wing, MN or it can be faxed to 651.388.0243.
