Part Time and Seasonal Employment

Part-time employment is regularly scheduled employment of less than 40 hours per week. Employees working at least 20 hours per week earn pro-rated vacation, sick leave and holiday pay. A minimum of 24 hours per week must be worked for prorated group insurance benefits.

Part-time positions with the City of Red Wing include:

  • Confidential Clerks (Police Department)
  • Emergency Management Director
  • Finance Aids
  • IT Reference Librarians
  • Library Assistants
  • Library Clerks
  • Municipal Gate Attendants

Seasonal Employment

In addition to regular employment, the City of Red Wing annually hires 50 to 70 seasonal workers primarily during May through August to perform varied physical labor in general maintenance of the following areas:

  • City Parks
  • Streets
  • Recycling and Refuse
  • Cemetery
  • Resource Recovery
  • Water/Wastewater Utilities
  • Engineering
  • Building Maintenance
  • Fleet Maintenance
  • Marina Operations

Work schedules may include varied hours, some weekends, evenings, nights and holidays.

Interested applicants must possess a valid Minnesota Class D driver’s license or equivalent. Motorcycle and/or three-wheel permits or endorsements are required for some positions.

The hourly wage is based on previous experience and job assignment. Assignments will be considered based on experience, education and expressed area of interest.
