Welcome to Red Wing

Red Wing is a tremendous place to live, work and raise a family. Red Wing continues to work hard in preserving its historic past while moving forward with the technology of the future.

Recently, Red Wing was ranked the 23rd most historic place to visit in the world by National Geographic Traveler magazine. This gives you an idea of the pride residents take in our community. The Red Wing area offers a vast variety of recreational activities: biking, hiking, rock climbing, bowling, skiing, fishing, ice skating, boating, canoeing, skate boarding, hunting, golf, tennis, flying, birding, archery, shopping, arts, universal playground, wine tasting, baseball, antiquing, gambling, crafts, movies, swimming, museums, theatre, sightseeing and hockey ... just to name a few!

Red Wing has everything from Bed & Breakfast Inns to historic hotels, from fast food to award-winning fine dining, from farmers markets to food super centers, from small clinics to a major regional hospital, from studio apartments to estates, from volunteer opportunities to major service organizations, from independent businesses to national chains. If you need it, you can find it here in Red Wing. Whether you head north, south, east, or west, Red Wing is a great place to call home. You may travel by plane, train, automobile, public transportation or even boat. Red Wing is close enough to the Twin Cities to commute for work or just to take in a pro sports game, but far enough away to retain its unique small town charm.

Mayor John Howe Out & About in Red Wing

Mayor Welcomes Red Wing's Horse Stables

Mayor John Howe joined Chamber of Commerce representatives in welcoming Red Wing's first business offering trail rides, horse camps, horse brokerage and leasing. Hay Creek Stables, 29491 Hay Creek Trail, hosted an Open House May 9 to introduce their 16 horses, two donkeys, and riding trainers. Attendees enjoyed lunch served from an authentic chuck wagon, tours of private trails and horseback rides. There were also prizes and activities for children of all ages.

Red Wing's current Mayor, John Howe, met with three of the city's previous mayors May 21 to share thoughts about how to lead the community. The three previous mayors served their terms as follows:
Donna Dummer (2005-2008)
Romeo Cyr (1991-2000)
Joanell Dyrstad (1985-1991)
