Veteran's Day Holiday Schedule Announced

The City of Red Wing is providing the following schedule of building closures and services for the Veteran’s Day Holiday Week. City Hall, Public Works, the Red Wing Public Library and the Solid Waste Campus will all be CLOSED on Wednesday, November 11th.   Refuse & Recycling Collection Schedule: Monday, November 9th – Normal Collection Tuesday, November 10th – Normal Collection Wednesday, November 11th – NO COLLECTION Thursday, November 13th – Wednesday’s Route picked up Friday, November 14th – Thursday’s Route picked up      

City to Host Open House Meeting for Spring Creek Road/Hwy 61 Reconstruction Project

The City of Red Wing, the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT), and Goodhue County invites anyone with an interest in the Spring Creek Road at Highway 61 Reconstruction Project to attend a public open house, scheduled for Tuesday, November 10th from 5 PM – 7 PM at the Red Wing Public Library Foot Room – 225 East Avenue, Red Wing, MN 55066.  This project is focused on the reconstruction of the intersection of Spring Creek Road (also known as County Road 53) and Highway 61. Traffic Control Change - West Third & Fulton Streets

The City of Red Wing will be changing the traffic control signage at the intersection of West 3rd Street and Fulton Street on Monday, November 2, 2015.  During the Main Street Reconstruction Project, a four-way stop was installed at the intersection to accommodate increased construction traffic.  With major construction now complete, Public Works staff will remove the four - 4 way stop signs at the intersection and will return the yield signs on Fulton Street for the signage to enter 3rd Street. Portion of Pioneer Road closed beginning Wednesday, October 14th

The City of Red Wing Public Works Department will be closing a portion of Pioneer Road from Twin Buff Road west to Village Drive beginning Wednesday, October 14th.  The lanes will be shifted to the north side of the road to allow the Public Works crews to excavate and repair a broken sewer main.  Depending on the soil conditions, this portion of road may need to be closed completely to allow crews to safely excavate and expose the main.  The sewer repairs are expected to be completed by the end of the day on Friday October 16th with work lasting 3 days, weather permitting. 2015 Fall Yard Waste Clean-up Dates Announced

Residents can dispose of grass, leaves and compostable or organic yard waste year-round FREE OF CHARGE. Residents may also dispose of brush at the brush and compost site at the Solid Waste Campus, located at 1873 Bench Street, for a charge. However, these charges are waived for residents from OCTOBER 3RD  thru NOVEMBER 14TH, 2015.  During this time, Red Wing residents may dispose of brush and shrub trimmings free of charge. Bush Street Lane Closures, Beginning Week of 9/21

The City of Red Wing Public Works Department will be closing a lane of traffic on various portions of Bush Street beginning the week of September 21st for boulevard tree removal.  The area affected is the portion of Bush Street between 10th and 17th Streets. Crews will be removing boulevard trees in the area and the lane closures will occur only during working hours in the specific area of removal. Temporary Closure of City Hall Entrance

On Friday, September 18th, the east entrance to City Hall on the Plum Street side of the building will be closed.  This will restrict use of the handicapped ramp and accessibility to the building using this entrance.  City Hall will remain open with access available from the Fourth Street side of the building.  This closure is expected to last one day only. The contractor will be removing and replacing the spalled concrete outside the doors at the east entrance to the building.  The work is needed to ensure patron safety and is being completed as part of the City Hall masonry restoration …

Portion of College Avenue Closed Beginning 9/24/15

Asplundh Tree Service will be removing trees for Xcel Energy in the 700 and 800 blocks of College Avenue on Thursday and Friday, September 24th and 25th. College Avenue will be closed at Hill Street on the downhill side of the College Avenue wall. This closure will occur during the work day with hours expected to be between 7:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. The work is expected to be completed in two days. Traffic control will be in place. City of Red Wing Seasonal Staff and Noontime Kiwanis Participate in River City Days Parade

In celebration of 25 years of the Flower Basket Program, City of Red Wing seasonal staff along with members of the Noontime Kiwanis group participated in the River City Days Parade held on August 2nd. City staff present were Claire Carson, Maddie Erie, Alyssa Pasch, Amy Otteson and Jordan Juckel. Thanks to all who participated and to Hanisch Bakery for donating 2000 cookies to be given away to parade goers!

Sand Hill Water Reservoir Work Begins

The Sand Hill water reservoir, located at the top of West Avenue hill, will be painted over the next 6-8 weeks.  The work being done consists of sandblasting and painting both the inside and outside of the reservoir.  Work is permitted between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday.  Work is permitted on Sunday, but is limited to quiet activities.  The old coating, and any existing rust or scale will be removed by sand blasting during the first 4-5 weeks and can be a noisy process.  After that time, the additional coats of paint can be applied without much noise…
