Highway 63 Bridge - Short-Term Lane Closures, Flaggers Planned for March 21st.

Motorists traveling on the Highway 63 Eisenhower Bridge at Red Wing will encounter afternoon lane closures and flaggers on Monday, March 21 while work is done in preparation for the bridge replacement project, according to the Minnesota and Wisconsin departments of transportation. A WisDOT crew will be doing pavement borings for the Wisconsin approach roads.  The work will provide MnDOT designers with additional information for the roadway and pavement design.  Work is expected to begin at 1 p.m., Monday and should be completed by 3 p.m., weather permitting.  If work is completed sooner, traff…

Potter Street Two-Way Traffic

The segment of Potter Street between TH61/Main Street and TH63/3rd Street has been converted from 1-way to 2-way traffic effective immediately.  On March 14, 2016, the City Council approved the conversion of this segment of Potter Street to 2-way traffic to help aid the movement of traffic during the 2nd phase of Main Street reconstruction.  Potter Street will remain 2-way permanently after the reconstruction project. Levee Road Closure Extended

Due to unexpected delays in relocating XCEL Energy’s utility poles along Levee Road as well as tight construction quarters, Levee Road from Jackson Street to the Red Wing Grain offices will be closed to through traffic for approximately another 2 weeks.  It was previously expected that Levee Road would be open to through traffic by the end of this week.  Traffic control is in place and drivers are encouraged to avoid this area. Water Main Break at 4th and Plum Street - Sunday, Feb 28 7:45pm

The City of Red Wing is reporting a water main break at 4th and Plum Streets. All lanes of traffic between 5th and Plum Streets and 3rd and Plum Streets will be closed until further notice. Please seek alternative routes in this area. UPDATE: Public Works is installing barriers and detour signs at the intersection of 4th & Plum Street until the water main is repaired. Expected duration may be two days. Please use an alternate route/detour if you normally travel through this area. Thank you.

Thank You for Shoveling Your Sidewalk!

What is Red Wing’s current shoveling policy? Property owners must shovel their sidewalk within 24 hours of a snowfall.  After that time City crews will locate sidewalks that have not been shoveled and property owners will be given a onetime notification by posting the notice on the door or in another visible location stating that their sidewalk has not been shoveled and they have an additional 24 hours to clear the sidewalk.  After that time, crews will shovel private sidewalks that have not been cleared so that sidewalks remain safe and accessible for everyone, including children who may be w…

Lane Restrictions on Hwy 61 Beginning Thursday, December 31st

The City of Red Wing Public Works Department will be closing the right lane of Hwy 61 for north bound traffic at Potter Street beginning Thursday, December 31st.  The lanes will be shifted to the south side of the road to allow the Public Works crews to excavate and repair a broken water main.  Underground work will be completed today, but the driving lane will remain closed until street repairs can be completed on Wednesday January 6th.
