Hwy 63 Red Wing Bridge Project Open House Feb. 18th

The Minnesota and Wisconsin departments of transportation are hosting a public open house for the Red Wing Bridge Project on Feb. 18 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Red Wing Public Library (225 East Avenue, Red Wing, MN).  An informational presentation will begin at 5 p.m., but you're encouraged to arrive at any time.  Project staff will be available to discuss final design and project developments.  The meeting is an opportunity to learn about the project, provide input, and address issues or concerns. Snow Emergency Plow Routes App Now Available!

City of Red Wing Public Works staff have created a new web mapping application showing street routes affected by a Snow Emergency declaration. Thank You for Shoveling Your Sidewalk!

What is Red Wing’s current shoveling policy? Property owners must shovel their sidewalk within 24 hours of a snowfall.  After that time City crews will locate sidewalks that have not been shoveled and property owners will be given a onetime notification by posting the notice on the door or in another visible location stating that their sidewalk has not been shoveled and they have an additional 24 hours to clear the sidewalk.  After that time, crews will shovel private sidewalks that have not been cleared so that sidewalks remain safe and accessible for everyone, including children who may be w…

Lane Restrictions on Hwy 61 Beginning Thursday, December 31st

The City of Red Wing Public Works Department will be closing the right lane of Hwy 61 for north bound traffic at Potter Street beginning Thursday, December 31st.  The lanes will be shifted to the south side of the road to allow the Public Works crews to excavate and repair a broken water main.  Underground work will be completed today, but the driving lane will remain closed until street repairs can be completed on Wednesday January 6th. New Pedestrian Signal Added as Part of Hwy 61 Reconstruction Project

Pedestrians and motorists will encounter a new pedestrian crossing signal on Highway 61 in Red Wing that was installed as part of the Main Street reconstruction Project.  Located near Kwik Trip between Hill and Franklin Streets, the system is a High-intensity Activated Crosswalk or HAWK system that combines a beacon flasher and traffic control signaling technique to allow pedestrians safe crossing of a roadway while also keeping traffic flow working when there are not pedestrians or when pedestrians have safely cleared the vehicles' driving path.  The system is one of just three on state highways i…

Broad Street Closed at the Railroad Crossing Beginning November 9th

Meyer Contracting, the contractor reconstructing Levee Road from Broad Street to Jackson Street, will be constructing the watermain for the project in the area of the Canadian Pacific (CP) Railroad tracks on Broad Street; and CP will be constructing upgrades to the railroad crossing on Broad Street, beginning on Monday, November 9, 2015. This construction will require constructing the watermain under the railroad tracks, replacing the railroad track approach panels, and replacing the railroad track rails.
