On Monday, April 12th, at the Regular City Council Meeting, Mayor Howe Declared Friday, April 30th as Arbor Day in Red Wing. In addition, he is encouraging all citizens to celebrate and to support efforts to protect our trees and woodlands, to plant trees and to promote the well being of this and future generations.
On April 30th, the City of Red Wing will hold an Arbor Day celebration at AP Anderson Park. The area identified is near the basketball/tennis courts where the new playground equipment will be installed. at 12:00 noon, a class of approximately 25 students from Burnside Elementary School will participate in a tree planting. They will be planting a total of 11 trees including Linden, Bi-Color Oak and disease resistant Elm. The students will plant, water and mulch the trees.
Dakota Electric Association will be paying for 5 trees along with 25 seedlings which will be distributed to the students to be planted at a location of their choice. Red Wing Action Club will also be donating a tree and participating in the Arbor Day festivities.
