Highway #63 Final Design Public Open House - 11/3/16

The Minnesota and Wisconsin Departments of Transportation are hosting an open house for the Red Wing Bridge Project on November 3 from 5-7 p.m. in the Foot Room of the Red Wing Public Library (225 East Avenue, Red Wing, MN).  An informational presentation will begin at 5:30 p.m., but the public is encouraged to arrive at any time.   Information presented will include construction schedule and details, project aesthetics, right-of-way status, and utility updates.  Project staff will be available to discuss recent project developments and answer questions.  Your feedback is valuable to …

TH 61/Main Street Reconstruction Project - Bush & Potter Street Closures at Main Street

The City of Red Wing and the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) would like to inform you that the reopening of Plum Street (TH 58) at the intersection of Main Street (TH 61) with temporary surfacing is planned to take place on Friday, May 20th.  As part of the reopening, the Bush and Potter Street intersections at Main Street are planned to be closed to allow the concrete work to progress through these intersections.  The focus will be to complete all of the new concrete work on the south side while Plum Street remains open, saving this intersection for last.   It is estimated that …

TH 61/Main Street Reconstruction Project - Overnight Construction

As part of the TH 61/Main Street project, the City’s contractor, Meyer Contracting will be constructing a water main connection at the intersection of Bush Street and Main Street.  The work is scheduled to begin at approximately 8:00 pm Thursday evening (3/31) and will continue into the early hours of Friday morning.  This water main connection will require water service disruption to area businesses and residents, but overnight construction will allow us to minimize the impacts to those affected by the shutdown.  The affected properties have been notified about this water service disrupt…

Highway 63 Bridge - Short-Term Lane Closures, Flaggers Planned for March 21st.

Motorists traveling on the Highway 63 Eisenhower Bridge at Red Wing will encounter afternoon lane closures and flaggers on Monday, March 21 while work is done in preparation for the bridge replacement project, according to the Minnesota and Wisconsin departments of transportation. A WisDOT crew will be doing pavement borings for the Wisconsin approach roads.  The work will provide MnDOT designers with additional information for the roadway and pavement design.  Work is expected to begin at 1 p.m., Monday and should be completed by 3 p.m., weather permitting.  If work is completed sooner, traff…

Potter Street Two-Way Traffic

The segment of Potter Street between TH61/Main Street and TH63/3rd Street has been converted from 1-way to 2-way traffic effective immediately.  On March 14, 2016, the City Council approved the conversion of this segment of Potter Street to 2-way traffic to help aid the movement of traffic during the 2nd phase of Main Street reconstruction.  Potter Street will remain 2-way permanently after the reconstruction project. Levee Road Closure Extended

Due to unexpected delays in relocating XCEL Energy’s utility poles along Levee Road as well as tight construction quarters, Levee Road from Jackson Street to the Red Wing Grain offices will be closed to through traffic for approximately another 2 weeks.  It was previously expected that Levee Road would be open to through traffic by the end of this week.  Traffic control is in place and drivers are encouraged to avoid this area.
