City of Red Wing

Seizure Smart Community

Wednesday, June 12 2013 12:00 AM

The City of Red Wing has partnered  with the Epilepsy Foundation of Minnesota (EFMN) to designate Red Wing as a Seizure Smart Community. Beginning in May and progressing over the next six months representatives from EFMN will be conducting free awareness training at schools, businesses, for the City staff and any organization that would like training.

Communities in the past that have received a Seizure Smart designation include Rochester, Owatonna, Fairmont, Duluth, Austin and St. Cloud. This a service donated by EFMN and there is no fee for participation.

November is National Epilepsy Month. On October 26 at 9:30 a.m. there will be an Open House at the Minnesota State College Southeast Technical, 308 Pioneer Road, Red Wing, MN, to award the seizure smart certificate to City officials. The public is welcome to attend.

Look for the epilepsy awareness information table at events throughout Red Wing this summer. For more information please contact Vicki Snyder, Outreach Coordinator, at 507-287-2103 or or Tom Schneider, Fire Chief, at 651.385.3695 or
