Tuesday, April 22 2014 12:00 AM

Red Wing, Minnesota (March 31, 2014) - Red Wing Downtown Main Street, Inc. and the Red Wing Port Authority are partnering up to present foodies and spirited businesspeople alike with a unique opportunity. The Red Wing Restaurant Challenge is a chance for aspiring restaurateurs to build a new business in a historic river town with a serious need for new food options.

The Restaurant Challenge will provide up to three selected restaurateurs with an attractive cash and professional services incentive package valued at up to $40,000. The package includes support from the community, in-kind business support and discounted rental space in bustling downtown Red Wing.

Those with an entrepreneurial spirit and strong restaurant background are encouraged to apply. The only prerequisite is a love of food and a desire to help Red Wing open tasty restaurants. Interested parties can visit tastyredwing.com for all the info on how to apply, and all are encouraged to add a little spice to the application.  Applications are due by May 15, 2014.

Red Wing offers a population of more than 16,000 and continually sees a steady stream of traffic moving through the heart of its historic downtown. And with Red Wing Shoe Company headquartered right downtown, the city offers a prime attraction for travelers looking for entertainment as well as fine cuisine. Red Wing also features the Mississippi River, beautiful bluffs, history and loads of charm. The only thing lacking is some literal flavor, a flavor everyone in town is eager to taste.
