City of Red Wing

Park and Road Closures Due to Rising Water Beginning June 22, 2012

Wednesday, June 20 2012 12:00 AM
The City of Red Wing Public Works Department will be closing Levee Road between Broad and Jackson Streets as well as Ikata Drive beginning Friday morning.  These roads will remain closed until the water recedes and roads are safe for travel. The river is projected to crest at 13' on Wednesday, June 27th.  Levels are subject to change based on river and weather conditions.

Areas of Colvill Park will be restricted as needed, with the possibility of complete closure on Monday morning.   The boat ramp at Colvill Park will be closed Monday morning as well.  Staff will continue to monitor river readings and if the level reaches 12', the park will be closed.  If levels remain below 12', only portions of the park will be restricted.  If river readings change, park closures may occur as early as Saturday.

Barricades and signs will be in place to restrict access as needed.  City crews appreciate the cooperation and patience of neighbors, drivers and pedestrians during this time of inconvenience.
