As a result of the storms that passed through the area on Tuesday, July 5th, some community members remain without power.
The Red Wing Family YMCA has invited anyone currently out of electricity to shower at the YMCA. This is free to anyone who needs it; all the YMCA is requesting is that you bring your own towel.
The YMCA is open from 4:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 4:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday and 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

(July 6, 2016, Red Wing, Minn.) – As a result of the storms that passed through the City of Red Wing on Tuesday, July 5th, the Solid Waste Management Campus located at 1873 Bench Street, will accept storm damaged trees and branches at no charge beginning today through Saturday, July 16th.
The hours for this disposal at the Solid Waste Campus are Monday through Friday from 9:00am to 5:00pm and Saturday and Sunday from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm running through Saturday July 16th. This includes Saturday and Sunday, July 9th and 10th.

The City of Red Wing and the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) would like to inform you that the traffic switch of TH 61 (Main Street) from the old northbound lanes to the newly constructed southbound lanes is planned to take place Wednesday, June 22nd or the next day there after weather dependent. The switch is required in order to close the north side of the highway and allow the completion of the proposed construction within the northbound lanes. On Monday, June 20th, Xcel Energy will begin replacing the 1.5 mile section of the existing 69kV underground transmission line located between Hill Street and Xcel Energy’s Red Wing Generating Station near E 5th Street. Final project completion is planned for January 2017. The existing line was installed in 1976 and has reached the end of its design lifespan. No power outages will be associated with this work.

(June 16, 2016, Red Wing, Minn.) – Work continues on the main access road to Memorial Park and will be extended to include Monday, June 20th. The road will be open to the public on Saturday and Sunday, June 18 and 19 and closing on Monday for the final day of repairs. Monarch Paving Company will be reclaiming and paving the loop on top of the park utilizing large equipment for asphalt delivery. (June 12, 2016, Red Wing, Minn.) – On 6/12/2016 at 6:24am, the Red Wing Fire Department received a call reporting smoke in the basement at 1175 Golf Ridge Circle. Firefighter/paramedics were on scene within 5 minutes of receiving the call and found fire on the exterior in the rear of the house being fueled by a gas line. It is assumed that the line was struck by lightning and was just starting to involve the siding at the Fire Departments arrival. The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources lifted the burning ban for Goodhue County. Residents that had permits suspended because of the ban can now resume burning until their permit expires. Residents can now also apply for new burning permits. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

On May 6, 2016, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources issued a burning ban statewide, including Goodhue County.
All burn permits issued within the City of Red Wing and Wacouta Township are suspended effective immediately. No new burn permits will be issued until the burning ban is lifted. At this time recreational fires are still allowed.
