Captain Tony Grosso of the Red Wing Police Department is no stranger to emergencies. Not only is it in the very nature of his job, but he also just earned an Emergency Management Certificate through the Minnesota Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management. This achievement represents several hundred hours of work and study, not to mention the successful completion of 30 online and classroom courses. The knowledge Captain Grosso gained from this highly specialized training will provide an important link in the RWPD’s emergency response chain. As Police Chief Roger Pohlman states, “The Emergency Management certification of Captain Grosso is critical to providing quality service and response to our citizens in times of crisis.”
Chief Pohlman and Mark Marcy, Minnesota Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management Regional Program Coordinator, publically presented Captain Grosso with his certificate at the City Council Meeting on February 13th. The RWPD prioritizes a high level of training for all of its officers and is proud of the work Captain Grosso has done to achieve such a challenging and worthwhile certification.
