The City of Red Wing and the Prairie Island Indian Community (PIIC) are working together to update the 2006 design for a new overpass that may be constructed on Sturgeon Lake Road to allow for a safer CP Rail crossing with better access to and from Prairie Island.
A Community Information Meeting will be held June 19 at the PIIC Community Center on Island Boulevard. The meeting will be held from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., with a brief presentation at 5:00 p.m. The meeting is for the public to review the preferred alternative for a proposed Sturgeon Lake Road Overpass that would cross the existing railroad. The preferred alternative is generally similar to the alternative selected as part of the 2006 Sturgeon Lake Road study, with adjustments to accommodate the new PIIC Public Safety Building and the potential future commuter rail station.
