Highway 61 (Main Street) Reconstruction Project – Stage 2 Traffic Switch

The City of Red Wing and the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) would like to inform you that the traffic switch of TH 61 (Main Street) from the current southbound lanes to the newly constructed outside lanes is planned to take place on Thursday, August 11th.  In case of inclement weather, the traffic switch may instead take place on Friday, August 12th.  The switch will place both northbound and southbound TH 61 on the correct sides and within the outside lane of each side only.  This reconfiguration is required in order to close the inside lanes and allow for the completion of the…

Broad Street Closure at Levee Road - August 9-12, 2016

Due to continuing work on the Levee Road reconstruction project, Broad Street will be closed between Levee Road and the Red Wing Depot parking lot beginning at 1:00 AM on Tuesday, August 9th and reopening by 7:00 PM on Friday, August 12th. The Contractor will be working on removing and replacing concrete pavement across the entire width of Broad Street, which will necessitate the closure of Broad Street. Levee Road and Red Wing Riverfront Trail Dedication

A quorum of Red Wing City Council Members may be present at the Levee Road and Red Wing Riverfront Trail Dedication Ceremony on August 5 at 11:30 a.m. at Levee Park.  As part of the ceremony, Mayor Dan Bender, Brian Peterson and Jay Owens will highlight the construction project. Red Wing Chamber staff and ambassadors will do a ribbon cutting and then everyone will be encouraged to join in a community walk on the new trail.

High water levels impacting docking location of the Mississippi Queen

Message from Lynn Nardinger, Deputy Director Public ServicesPublic Works Department - The Queen of the Mississippi paddle boat will be docking at the bulkheads by Bay Point Park instead of Levee Park do to the high water levels. Docking is expected to be around noon on Friday and leaving around 5:30pm and returning Saturday at 10:00 pm and leaving Sunday at noon

East Avenue Closure at 13th Street

The City of Red Wing would like to inform you that East Avenue will be closed at 13th Street beginning on Monday, July 18th for utility work as a part of the 2016 Street Reconstruction project.  Crews will be replacing and upgrading the watermain on 13th Street from the connection in East Avenue northerly into 13th Street. Red Wing Fire Department Responds to a Barn Fire

On July 9th at 5:46am the Red Wing Fire Department received a call reporting a barn on fire in the area of 27005 Lehrbach Road. Firefighter/paramedics were on the scene within 9 minutes of receiving the call and utilized an exterior fire attack to combat the fire. The tin shed full of hay along with a tractor and snow blower was totally engulfed in flames at the fire departments arrival. This fire was a mutual aid fire in the Goodhue Fire Department district. Red Wing Fire Department was providing fire and EMS coverage in Goodhue's district due to their attendance at the funeral of their Fire Chief. Lake City…
