Red Wing Police Respond to Shooting Complaint

On January 25, 2017, at approximately 10:54 PM, Red Wing Police Department Officers responded to 155 Burnside Avenue North for a report of shots being fired at that residence. Witnesses reported seeing a vehicle drive past the residence at 155 Burnside Avenue, with rounds being fired at the home. No one was injured and the investigation continues. The Red Wing Police Department was assisted by the Goodhue County Sheriff’s Office. No further information is available as the incident remains under investigation. Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact the Red Wing Police Department at 651-385-3155.

Officers Respond to Assault on Deputy

On January 18, 2017, at approximately 9:29 a.m., Officers of the Red Wing Police Department responded to a report of an assault at 903 West 4th Street.  Upon arrival, officers arrested Salvatore Stella. Initial investigation revealed that a Goodhue County Sheriff’s Deputy was serving civil papers to Mr. Stella when Stella attacked the Deputy.  Red Wing Fire Department Ambulance staff assisted at the scene and transported the Deputy to Mayo Clinic Health Systems – Red Wing.  The incident remains under investigation by the Red Wing Police Department.

Riverfront Trail Closure

Riverfront Trail Closure at Red Wing Grain Elevators January 17, 2017 The City of Red Wing would like to inform you that the Riverfront Trail will be closed between the gates at the Red Wing Grain elevators beginning on Monday, January 23rd and re-opening approximately 3-4 weeks later (around February 27th). The closure is occurring due to construction work on the Red Wing Grain elevators requiring cranes to be in operation between the grain elevators and the river. Foursome Street Closure to Repair Water Main

Foursome St. will be closed between Spruce Drive and Southwood Ave. on Saturday, January 7th, for repairs to a broken water main.  Repairs to the water main are expected to be completed on Saturday, but a portion of the street will remain closed until Monday when repairs to the street can be completed.  Safety barricades will be in place and motorists are encouraged to avoid the area.

2017 PIONEER ROAD AND TWIN BLUFF ROAD INTERSECTION RECONSTRUCTION The City of Red Wing will be reconstructing the intersection of Pioneer Road and Twin Bluff Road in 2017 to improve the pedestrian facilities, relieve traffic congestion, and allow for higher traffic volumes to travel this intersection safely into the future. Holiday Greens Disposal Options

Red Wing’s Waste Campus is offering free disposal of holiday trees and greens from December 27, 2016 through January 14th, 2017. The drop off site is located at 1873 Bench Street and will be open Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., and Saturdays from 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. All wire and metal must be removed from these items or they will not be accepted free of charge. Following January 14th, standard disposal charges will apply. The City of Red Wing does not provide curbside removal of Christmas trees. Local Children Helped to Grow the Grinch's Heart

We all know the story of the Grinch, that terrible humbug whose heart was three sizes too small. It took the generosity of a child and a whole community to make it grow in Dr. Seuss’ beloved Christmas story.  The Red Wing Police Department had its own Grinch story this holiday season and it’s just as heartwarming.  The RWPD had an interactive photo booth at the Yuletide Festival this year where the young and old could get a photo with the Grinch and receive a ‘good deed’ citation from an officer.
