The City of Red Wing and the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) would like to inform you that the traffic switch of TH 61 (Main Street) from the old northbound lanes to the newly constructed southbound lanes is planned to take place Wednesday, June 22nd or the next day there after weather dependent.  The switch is required in order to close the north side of the highway and allow the completion of the proposed construction within the northbound lanes.  As part of the traffic switch the Plum Street intersection is planned to be reopened with the Bush Street intersection on the north side …

Another successful Father's Day Classic Car Show

Congratulations to the Phantom Motor/Model Club on an outstanding Father’s Day Classic Car Show this past weekend.  Due to road construction, city staff worked closely with the organizers to coordinate traffic flow and provide excellent public safety to all participants.   This annual event is a success because of the attention to detail by the organizers, who began the application process in March to secure the necessary permission to close streets and the Mural parking lot.  The Father’s Day Classic Car show brings tourism to the community and provides positive exposure for R…

Xcel Energy Red Wing Underground Transmission Project

On Monday, June 20th, Xcel Energy will begin replacing the 1.5 mile section of the existing 69kV underground transmission line located between Hill Street and Xcel Energy’s Red Wing Generating Station near E 5th Street.  Final project completion is planned for January 2017.  The existing line was installed in 1976 and has reached the end of its design lifespan.  No power outages will be associated with this work. UPDATE - Main Access to Memorial Park Closure - Extended

UPDATE (June 16, 2016, Red Wing, Minn.) – Work continues on the main access road to Memorial Park and will be extended to include Monday, June 20th.  The road will be open to the public on Saturday and Sunday, June 18 and 19 and closing on Monday for the final day of repairs.  Monarch Paving Company will be reclaiming and paving the loop on top of the park utilizing large equipment for asphalt delivery.  Due to the size of the equipment, safety precautions must be taken therefore driving must be prohibited. Meet At He Mni Can – Barn Bluff Master Plan Event

The Red Wing Advisory Planning Commission invites the public to come and learn about the Master Plan for He Mni Can - Barn Bluff on Saturday, June 18, 2016 from 9 AM to 2:00 PM. Red Wing Fire Department Responds to a Structure Fire

(June 12, 2016, Red Wing, Minn.) – On 6/12/2016 at 6:24am, the Red Wing Fire Department received a call reporting  smoke in the basement at 1175 Golf Ridge Circle. Firefighter/paramedics were on scene within 5 minutes of receiving the call and found fire on the exterior in the rear of the house being fueled by a gas line. It is assumed that the line was struck by lightning and was just starting to involve the siding at the Fire Departments arrival. 6/10/2016 Disposal and Curbside Removal of Storm Damaged Trees

As a result of the storms that passed through the City of Red Wing on Friday, June 10th, the Solid Waste Management Campus located at 1873 Bench Street will accept storm damaged trees and branches at no charge between the hours of 7:00 and 3:00 on Saturday and Sunday, June 11th and 12th. City of Red Wing Public Works Crews will be making one pass through the City on Monday, June 13th to collect branches and trees placed on the boulevard as a result of the storms. Council Members Address Civility in City Government
