Red Wing Fire Department Responds to a Structure Fire

(June 12, 2016, Red Wing, Minn.) – On 6/12/2016 at 6:24am, the Red Wing Fire Department received a call reporting  smoke in the basement at 1175 Golf Ridge Circle. Firefighter/paramedics were on scene within 5 minutes of receiving the call and found fire on the exterior in the rear of the house being fueled by a gas line. It is assumed that the line was struck by lightning and was just starting to involve the siding at the Fire Departments arrival. 6/10/2016 Disposal and Curbside Removal of Storm Damaged Trees

As a result of the storms that passed through the City of Red Wing on Friday, June 10th, the Solid Waste Management Campus located at 1873 Bench Street will accept storm damaged trees and branches at no charge between the hours of 7:00 and 3:00 on Saturday and Sunday, June 11th and 12th. City of Red Wing Public Works Crews will be making one pass through the City on Monday, June 13th to collect branches and trees placed on the boulevard as a result of the storms. Council Members Address Civility in City Government

Council President Dean Hove read the following statement at the May 23 City Council meeting to address concerns about civility in City government. Last week a group of citizens was properly informed by City staff that they could not place banners in the City right-of-way without a Private Use of Public Property Permit. City Council Approves City of Red Wing Strategic Plan

At its May 9 Council meeting, Red Wing City Council approved the City of Red Wing Strategic Plan. The plan includes an executive summary, terms and definitions, background and four strategies. Each strategy includes goals.  The plan represents the accumulation of Mayor and Council ideas with public input. TH 61/Main Street Reconstruction Project - Bush & Potter Street Closures at Main Street

The City of Red Wing and the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) would like to inform you that the reopening of Plum Street (TH 58) at the intersection of Main Street (TH 61) with temporary surfacing is planned to take place on Friday, May 20th.  As part of the reopening, the Bush and Potter Street intersections at Main Street are planned to be closed to allow the concrete work to progress through these intersections.  The focus will be to complete all of the new concrete work on the south side while Plum Street remains open, saving this intersection for last.   It is estimated that …

City Awarded Over $3.87 Million in Grant Funding for Multiple Projects

The City of Red Wing has received notice of grant funding for five important infrastructure improvement projects totaling over $3.87 million. The city’s latest grant award notice arrived on May 9, 2016.  The Minnesota Department of Transportation District 6 Area Transportation Partnership selected the city’s 2020 Transportation Alternative Program grant application for $857,218 in funding.  The grant, from the Federal Highway Administration’s transportation enhancement’s Transportation Alternatives Program, will be leveraged with other funds to design and build a bike and pe…

Barn Bluff Master Plan: Public Open House

The Red Wing Advisory Planning Commission is pleased to announce a Public Open House for the Barn Bluff Master Plan to take place on Thursday May 12, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:30 PM in the Foot Room of the Red Wing Public Library. The city initiated a process to develop a Master Plan for Barn Bluff earlier last fall and has conducted a series of public meetings and workshops geared at sharing ideas and obtaining citizen feedback. In honor of National Police Week, there will be a Peace Officer Memorial Day Service held on May 16th, at 12:00 noon at the Goodhue County Law Enforcement Rotunda.  Guest speaker will be Erin Kuester, Assistant Goodhue County Attorney.  After the service, refreshments will be served.  The public is invited to attend the service.
