"Spring Flood Run" Kicks Off Riding Season, Enforcement Along Routes

Thousands of motorcyclists will kick off the unofficial start of the Minnesota motorcycle riding season during the “Spring Flood Run” Saturday, April 15. The route takes riders along the scenic Mississippi and St. Croix Valley roadways between the Twin Cities and Winona. Motorists will need to use extra caution this weekend with as many as 30,000 motorcyclists riding between the Twin Cities and Winona for the event. Early Spring Tree Pruning

You may have noticed crews out pruning trees in and around the City. Some of these crews are with the City of Red Wing, and some are contracted through utility companies to maintain clearance for overhead utility lines and pipeline corridors.  Early spring is a good time to prune trees, as they are still dormant yet more accessible once the snow is gone.  Pruning is done for a variety of reasons, with the extensiveness of the pruning depending upon the need.  The City prunes trees along streets and in parks for safety, tree health, and aesthetics, with safety being the top priority. The Red Wing Police Department has partnered with Crime Stoppers of Minnesota to proactively increase ways that citizens can pass on information about crimes or fugitives while remaining anonymous. Conservation Corps of MN to Conduct Controlled Prescribed Burns on Sorin’s Bluff on Wed. 3/22/17
