Mayor Egan Proclaims March 28 as Red Wing Winger Boys Swimming and Diving Team Day

Red Wing Winger Boys Swimming and Diving Team

 Proclamation

WHEREAS, at the Section Championship meet the Red Wing Winger Boys Swimming and Diving Team qualified 10 events to the state meet; and

WHEREAS, the Wingers were honored with the Section1A Swimmer Of The Year (Tanner Alms) and Section 1A Assistant Coach Of The Year (Sue Forsberg); and

WHEREAS, qualifying for state was the culmination of an extraordinary season and the result of much hard work and determination by Winger team members; and

WHEREAS, at state, the Wingers placed 9th to keep their streak of top 10 finishes intact and set a new state record in the 500 freestyle; and

WHEREAS, in the regular season, the Wingers used a team effort to complete only the second undefeated season in the history of Boys Swimming and Diving; and

WHEREAS, the Red Wing Winger Boys Swimming won the True Team Section Championship for the first time in history and the Winger Invite for the first time in years; and

WHEREAS, throughout the year, the dedication of team members has been unmatched in their hard work and the dedication they showed in the offseason to produce a season this successful; and

WHEREAS, Coaches Gene Petersen, Sue Forsberg, Carrie Hansen and Monica Root are extremely proud of the accomplishments and the hard work of this extraordinary team.

WHEREAS, Red Wing is honored to be the home of the Red Wing Winger Boys Swimming and Diving Team.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Dennis Egan, Mayor of Red Wing, Minnesota, do hereby proclaim March 28, 2011, as Red Wing Winger Boys Swimming and Diving Team Day in Red Wing, Minnesota.
