Mayor Egan Proclaims April 11 as Red Wing Winger Girl's Basketball Team Day

  Red Wing Winger Girl's Basketball Day Proclamation

WHEREAS, the Red Wing Winger Girl's Basketball team defeated New Prague to win the 2011 Section 1A Championship game on Friday, March 11, 2011; and

WHEREAS, winning the Championship was the culmination of an extraordinary season and the result of much hard work and determination by Winger team members; and

WHEREAS,  ranked as the number two-seeded team in their section, the Winger's beat the number seven seed Albert Lea, the number six seed Waseca team, and the number one seeded New Prague to make it to the Minnesota State Girls Basketball tournament; and

WHEREAS, the Red Wing Winger Girls Basketball team was defeated by #1 ranked and undefeated Hill-Murray in the Class AAA Quarterfinals; and

WHEREAS, throughout the year, the dedication of team members has been matched by their family members, who, often traveled long distances to attend away games; and

WHEREAS, Coaches Kraig Ulveling, Rich Buck, Dave Muelken, and Jon Bombach provided just the right guidance, leadership, insight and support to the team, and should be extremely proud of the 2011 Championship season team.

WHEREAS, Red Wing is honored to be the home of the Red Wing Winger Girl's Basketball Team.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That I, Dennis Egan, Mayor of Red Wing, Minnesota, do hereby proclaim April 11, 2011, as Red Wing Winger Girls Basketball Team Day in Red Wing, Minnesota.
