The city of Red Wing has hired five private tree trimmers to work this Friday, Saturday and maybe Sunday along with city crews. The incinerator will be open for free brush and tree waste disposal Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 7:00am to 5:00pm for drop-off. The plan for next week will be to continue on, based on our progress this weekend. We will be asking the contractors to continue helping us move forward as this is too extensive for just our crews. Right now contractors are removing hangers from the trees in the rights-a-way, over sidewalks and streets, and other hangers they can reach from the street. City crews are out clearing the downed brush laying in the street and right of way. We feel we will have to do another sweep next week or maybe the early part of the next week. We have one contractor crew in Oakwood to get that open for funerals. We haven’t done any work in the parks or trails area or any rural road areas.
At this time we are thinking a minimum of 2 weeks to get most of this storm cleaned up. Trails and other park areas will be later.
