Laura Blair, Information Technology Director

The City of Red Wing was informed on Monday, January 25, 2010 that Hiawatha Broadband Communications did not receive stimulus dollars requested to build a fiber optic network.  The application was for a $20 million project that would serve both Lake City, Red Wing and the surrounding townships.  Myron White, Executive Director of the Red Wing Port Authority commented "One of the strategies of the City's fiber to the home initiative is to make Red Wing more attractive to entrepreneurs and to incubate business."

While we are saddened by the news, we are planning to put an application together for round two.
