Red Wing Firefighter/Paramedics Respond to Structure Fire
(Oct 21st 2011, Red Wing, Minn.) – On October 20th at 8:20pm, the Red Wing Fire Department
received a call reporting a structure fire at 433 Spring Creek Road South.
Firefighter/paramedics were on scene within eight minutes of receiving the call and utilized
exterior defensive fire techniques to combat the fire. The primary search of the house was
completed and the fire was extinguished approximately two hours after arrival. There was a
homeowner fatality associated with the fire.
The call for the fire was received from a neighbor who noticed fire venting from the house. The
main floor of the house was fully involved with fire upon arrival of the Fire Department. Heavy
damage was sustained throughout the entire structure.
Apparatus used on the scene included 2 fire engines, 1 ladder truck and 1 ambulance. A total
of 7 full-time and 16 Paid-On-Call firefighters worked at the scene for over 4 hours. The Red
Wing Fire Department Fire Marshal was being assisted by the State Fire Marshal with the
The cause of the fire, which is believed to have originated in the kitchen, is under investigation.
